Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
